With the Icotec Hellion electronic coyote caller, you’re going to have a lot of fun. The Hellion came out in June of this year, and it has all the features you need to be a good hunter at a great low price.
In this review, we talk about the ICOtec Hellion.
Design of a Speaker Unit
In the first place, you’ll notice that it’s black instead of green like other ICOtec callers.
The main features of the Hellion are:
Icotec Hellion Black Programmable Predator Call - 200 Professional Sound Included
Features
- 300 yard non-line-of-sight remote range
- Includes 200 professional predator sound files
- Fantastic battery life
- Backlit digital screen and buttons
- Easy-to-read screen with big font
- In terms of size, this thing is about 10 x 8 x 6 inches and weighs about 3 pounds. It has a black outer case that looks like it could be used by a predator to stay hidden.
- durable antennas with swivels
- With a weight of only 3 pounds, it’s a lot lighter than some of the other programmable callers that are out there. Having a nice small size, this is easy to throw in your hunting pack if you want to get outside for a day and try your luck taking down a predator or two.
Technology that isn’t in the same place as
There are a lot of important things to think about when you buy a remote control for a programmable electronic caller. It needs to look good and be easy to use.
A backlit digital screen with a large font is easy to read on the Hellion remote control. It also has backlit buttons that make it easy to use. There are a lot of places and times you can use the screen light.
300 Yards from the Range
One of the main selling points of ICOtec predator callers is that they can be used from 300 yards away. The Hellion comes with this as a standard feature. The remote also doesn’t need to be in line of sight to start the main speaker unit.
Even though you might not need that long range, it’s still a good thing to have because it gives you a lot of options when you’re setting up your perfect stand.
In addition, there is a button to turn the TV on and off, as well as a button to pause the show, and a stand timer. Keep up to eight phone calls in two “favourite” screens.

Sounds
You can start using the Hellion right away because it comes with 200 high-quality audio calls already. There are also a lot of predator sounds you can choose from. Even so, if you want to make your own unique calls, you’ll be happy to know that the Hellion is an electronic call that can be changed.
For example, you can load.mp3 or.wav (16-bit) files directly onto the SD media card. Then, you can play your own sounds through the remote control. In order to do all this, of course, the cables for synchronisation and computer USB connections are there.
Choose your favourite audio call library to get some new predator calls. Check out the free ICOtec sound library or MFK Game Calls if you don’t know where to find them.
Batteries
To run the Hellion, the main unit needs 4AA (1.5 volt) batteries, and the remote control needs a 9 volt battery. Make sure you know that these things aren’t included and you’ll have to buy them to start.
Users have also said that the caller has a long battery life and doesn’t use a lot of power for its size. It might also be a good idea to buy some rechargeable batteries if you plan to use your electronic call a lot.
Decoy
Hunting with an electronic decoy can be even more exciting if you can plug one in and use the remote control to start it. If the speed of the decoy can be changed, you can also change that.
If you’re thinking about getting a decoy to go with your caller, the ICOtec AD450 black decoy is the best for the Hellion.
This decoy comes with a speed dial, a whisper-quiet motor that moves at different speeds, two quick-change toppers, and an LED light that is good for night hunts, among other things. Also, it has its own power source, so it won’t use up the battery of the main caller.
Warranty
In the same way as all ICOtec callers, the Hellion comes with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty that covers things like material defects and workmanship. It doesn’t cover things like damage caused by misuse, accidents, or poor handling.
FAQs
Will it play two sounds at the same time?
It can only play one sound at a time.
With the rise in caller technology, some electronic callers can play two different sounds at the same time. You can make your own mp3 sound files if you don’t have the money to buy a programmable caller that can be set up how you want it to be. You can combine two or more of your favourite sounds to make a unique audio file for some really unique calls.
What’s the difference between the GC500 and the Hellion Electronic Caller, and how do they work?
They both have a different colour, and depending on what you need to hunt and where you will be using it, the colour might be more important than anything else.
GEN2 GC500 vs. Hellion: The Hellion has a slightly different range of sound files, with more of a focus on predator sounds. In this case, if you don’t care about having the widest range of species sounds, the Hellion would be the best choice.
Because the Hellion doesn’t have an option to “coach in,” the GC500 has a button that lets you do that.
People say the ICOtec Hellion is good
The Hellion predator coyote caller is easy to use even though it has a lot of features and its single speaker has great sound. This is important when you’re waiting for a predator to come by on a cold winter’s day.
Even though it’s not a cheap electronic game call, it’s still a great option for people who are just getting started with a programmable call setup.
